- Item price$40.00
- Mercari selling fee (10%)-$4.00
- Effective rateFee as a share of the order total10.00%
How to use it
- Enter the price the item sold for.
- Add what the buyer paid for shipping, if anything. The 10% fee applies to it as well.
- Read what you keep after the selling fee.
- Switch the mode to work backwards from the amount you want to keep to the list price.
Worked example
A pair of jeans sells for $40.00 with the buyer paying $5.99 shipping.
Order total is $45.99. Selling fee: $45.99 × 10% = $4.60. You keep $41.39, which covers the $5.99 label and leaves $35.40 on the item.
How it's calculated
order total = item price + shipping paid by the buyer
selling fee = order total × 10%
you keep = order total − selling fee
Mercari dropped its separate 2.9% + $0.50 payment processing fee for sellers, so the 10% is the whole cost of a sale. Reverse mode divides the target by 0.90 and rounds up to the next cent.
FAQ
Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?
No. The seller fee is a flat 10% of the order total. Mercari removed the separate 2.9% + $0.50 processing fee when it brought the selling fee back, so there's nothing else taken out of your payout.
Is the fee charged on shipping?
Yes, when the buyer pays for shipping the 10% applies to the shipping amount too. If you use a Mercari label, the label cost is also deducted from your payout, so add it in the profit calculator.
Are there fees to withdraw money?
Standard direct deposit is free; Instant Pay carries a small flat fee and the minimum cashout is $10. Mercari may also charge a fee if a direct deposit is rejected by your bank.
What if I give a buyer a discount?
The fee is calculated on the amount the buyer actually pays, so a discounted offer lowers the fee too. Enter the accepted offer price rather than the original list price.
